Birth Control Pill

Hormonal Intrauterine Device (IUD)

  • A small piece of flexible plastic that is inserted into the uterus

  • Depending on which type you choose, it can be effective for 3 to 8 years

Copper Intrauterine Device (IUD)

  • A small piece of flexible plastic that is wrapped in copper
  • Does not contain hormones
  • Effective for up to 12 years
  • More than 99% effective

Implant

  • A small rod that is inserted into the upper arm
  • Also known as Nexplanon (U.S)
  • Contains the hormone progestin
  • Effective for up to 5 years
  • More than 99% effective
