Provides a support system that can reduce family conflict, stress, and risk factors, allowing WVU’s student parents to pursue and complete their studies at West Virginia University.
Child CareMedicaid may be able to help. Bring required documents to the Morgantown office of the WV Office of Health and Human Resources (112 S High Street). You will likely be asked to apply for SSI.

Offers Lamaze classes that are tailored to first time parents from 6-8:30 pm in sessions of three costing $60. They also offer a one-time only, 2 hour “refresher course” ($30) for those who are pregnant again and need updated information on the birthing process.

If you are considering a more secluded and tailored birthing experience Mon General’s Birthing Center may be a good option! They provide suites to expecting mothers and the option of a water birth. They also provide parenting classes, breastfeeding help, and aftercare just as Ruby Memorial Hospital does.

Provides prenatal care and support during childbirth. Midwives help women and others develop birth plans and make decisions about pain management during labor. WVU’s midwives are also trained to identify unexpected emergency situations during childbirth. The midwife group works in partnership with WVU obstetrics and gynecology physicians.

Provides many services to mothers including food and baby formula assistance. They also offer HealthBites, a class on good nutrition, healthy pregnancy, and nursing your baby.
WIC WVMountaineer Kid Zone (MKZ)
A flex-care center for children located in the Student Recreation Center. Services are free, but a parent needs to be a Rec Center member to use it (students who pay fees are members). A parent must stay on premise, using the facility or studying in the back room.
